THE MIDWEST PRAIRIE SERIES

            Tree Line, Oil, 24X30 Framed            

These paintings were inspired by the midwestern landscapes in northern Illlinois. 

I see the natural undulations of plowed fields and the movement in unplowed fields of grass and trees as relaxed brush strokes.  The intense shadows cast by brilliant sunlight, turn into pools of deep color that create a specific  mood I attempt to capture.

I hang these canvases in my home and live with them for several months, often reworking problem areas, or covering them up and start a new idea if the I don't like the results.  Tree Line gives my impression of a field after a light summer rain.

Prairie Shade, Oil, 16X20 Framed  Driving home from Wisconsin on a windy summer day, I drove past this hill and couldn't help wonder what was on the other side. 
 Uncle Bill's bass pond, Oil, 16X20 Framed  Uncle Bill had a great little pond that he let me fish.  It was down in those trees.  A cool spot on a hot summer afternoon.  Great fishing not so good catching.   
Reflections, Oil, 16X20 Framed On a very quiet early morning walk with Kirby, our Shelty, I spotted these trees along a windless farm pond.
